You Don’t Have to be a Weatherman-How the Wild Horses are a barometer for the falling of our freedom

Despite the years of protest, the American government in the entity of the BLM, is unresponsive and evasive to the desires of the American people. The cruel removal of our Wild Horses has continued under a veil of corruption, lies, and disregard for the law.

If you take even a brief look, you will turn away appalled at the consistency of this behavior in every office and every level of our government. The voice of the people is drowned in the dollars secreted into campaign funds and salaries that cannot be justified by production or even the most minimal sacrifice in the service of the framework of our Freedom.

For a moment, lets take a narrow view. Lets focus on the Wild Ones who are denied even the most basic rights of safety and family. In the view of the Horses, they are enduring intense and unending agony. This is not suffering for the sake of a greater good. The hearts blood of the American icon is ensuring fertile ground for some of the most vile, non-humanitarian entities known to this world. Big, soulless energy corporations, welfare ranchers, corrupt politicians.

Please join this fight.

From your home, from your office, from your laptops and on the corners of your hometown you can make a stand.

Give me Liberty or ??

Crack by crack the foundations of our Freedom are being dissembled… A leak initiated by  letters to President Obama from 11 U.S Senators, reveals what the A.C.L.U. calls “chilling”, completely circumventing the Court system. Although the targets are labeled “terrorist” the affiliation is  becoming looser. As the term is expanding to include those who exert pressure for change in any area, Animal advocacy can easily become entangled in this web. The precedents set here are not at this time limited to al-Qaida members and take no pause at destroying anyone in the path or proximity of the target.

Our National Shame…

Sadly, the facts say… yes! Image

Take Action to Stop Wild Horse Slaughter

Confirmation of what we have suspected for so long has emerged…

It is time to hold those who enabled this atrocity fully accountable…

It is time to close the gaping hole in the law that allows this!

                          REPEAL THE BURNS AMENDMENT!

It is time for a full investigation…

In the time span of just the last 4 years, under the Department of the Interior the Bureau of Land Management has sold at least 1700 Wild Horses that are Federally Protected to one man known to be the neighbor of Ken Salazar Sec of the Dept of the Interior . This was done knowing all the signs pointed to a high likelihood of them shipping to slaughter. In fact the BLM solicited the sales to the known kill buyer and included free transport!

You can take action Write-Call or Email the contacts below!                      Use your own letter or copy-paste the letter sample included!

October 1, 2012

To the President of the United States Barak Obama,

In the last 4 years, at least 1700 of our federally protected wild horses were sold and brutally slaughtered by the Bureau Of Land Management (BLM). Not only were they sold to one man, this person was known to Secretary of the Dept of the Interior Ken Salazar on a personal basis. The BLM under the direction of Ken Salazar actively solicited the sales and provided free transport to the slaughter buyer.

At the request of Americans, Congress passed the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971
(Public Law 92-195)

To require the protection, management, and control of wild free- roaming horses and burros on public lands. That Congress finds and declares that wild free-roaming horses and burros are living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West; that they contribute to the diversity of life forms within the Nation and enrich the lives of the American people; and that these horses and burros are fast disappearing from the American scene. It is the policy of Congress that wild free-roaming horses and burros shall be protected from capture, branding, harassment, or death; and to accomplish this they are to be considered in the area where presently found, as an integral part of the natural system of the public lands.

Provisions prohibiting the BLM from selling the Wild Horses they are paid to protect, for the purpose of slaughter, are contained within it. However it has become more than apparent the Bureau of Land Management holds itself immune to Federal Laws and the People of the United States they represent.  A complete breech of the public trust is being perpetrated. The American People never backed the slaughter of Wild Horses by the Bureau of Land Management and the slaughter of wild horses allowed by BLM was never the intent of the Act passed by Congress.  It is not possible for BLM to preserve and protect, if they claim to be ignorant of where these horses and burros are going. Due to the personal context discovered, it is impossible to believe the head of the Department of the Interior did not have knowledge of where these horses were going. As to the actions of Sec. Salazar, “The Secretary shall manage wild free-roaming horses and burros in a manner that is designed to achieve and maintain a thriving natural ecological balance on the public lands… Provided, that no wild free-roaming horse or burro or its remains may be sold or transferred for consideration for processing into commercial products. (Public Law 92-195 sec3-d) This does not sound like the description provided and clarified has anything in common with current Dept of Interior or BLM practices. In fact it is one of many places the actions of the Bureau of Land Management and the Dept of the Interior run contrary to the purpose of the Act.

The Wild horses belong To the American People. They are a symbol of the freedom and will to survive of the American People who have chosen to protect them. Why then do we see our wishes ignored and our voices no longer heard? Why are Government officials permitted to follow their own self serving agendas regardless of the cost to the American People in dollars and the very inspiration that keeps us hanging in there no matter how rough it may get?

We the People demand and expect a full investigation of the policies and practices and any discrepancies thereof, pertaining to the Bureau of Land Managements abuse of our Wild Horses and Burros, abuse of the Public trust and notorious non-transparency, and lack of effective oversight by Dept of the Interior Ken Salazar.

We call for the resignation of afore mentioned Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar.

We further request the immediate repeal of the Burns Amendment. This amendment inserted at a time and in a way that left Congress without the knowledge or chance for debate, is potentially illegal and or unconstitutional.

Never the Same

As I sip my coffee in late August, I am aware of an element of sadness that creeps into my day. Everyday. I keep it at bay, and focus on what needs to be done today. I have the theory that if I live my days with kindness and compassion, somehow I will counter the effects of those who show none.
This sadness is born of events that have forever changed me. The loss of a child blossoming into womanhood, the folks I loved who have passed on before I was sure I really appreciated them and the like. And Caboodle Ranch.
I suppose it has been a long time since I was drawn into an injustice so deeply. Some said I was obsessed. It was a subject that my mind researched, but my heart never doubted was obscenely wrong. It took me back to the tender years when a cry of “not fair” meant someone would rectify the situation. My thoughts were dominated with finding a way to right this wrong thru Spring and then Summer.
The lack of response from those I reached out to that could help was crushing. The love and devotion of supporters of the ranch purely amazing! The behavior of those who thought things would “work out” and “Justice would be served” perhaps the most appalling of all…
Some things I have learned include the justice system without the scrutiny of the public is not so just. The misplaced confidence we put in an attorney (yes, David Collins you have taught me some lessons!). And that the small town mechanisms for those not in the click, can go horribly out of control.
Most of all I have learned that it is the responsibility of all of us to do our part or forever have the specter of injustice empowered against us all.
Thank you for all the days of love and security for the unwanted and unloved that you provided the kitties, Craig and Caboodle Ranch. Those days cannot be erased and will forever remain in the balance for the good. I love your hearts and your courage.
I know I will never be the same and with the sadness comes the gift of seeing what could be…:)
